Hiking through retirement

        The popular Queen Charlotte Track connects Anakiwa with Ship Cove. Perhaps the most scenic section is that which connects Ship Cove and Endeavour Inlet. We took the boat from Picton to Ship Cove. From Ship Cove the Queen Charlotte Track climbs through the forest over a ridge then descends to reach Resolution Bay, After Resolution bay climb over a forest ridge again, eventually curling round into Endeavour Inlet. Total walking time 4~5 hrs.then we came back Picton by boat from Furneaux Lodge.         這一條步道是出名的Queen Charlotte Track 的一段,從Ship Cove 到Endeavour 內海灣.我們從Picton 搭船到Ship Cove 走到Endeavour 再搭船回Picton.是一條非常容易舒適的步道,步行約4~5小時.天氣晴朗微風徐徐,蔚藍的Marborough Sounds 海灣一個接一個,真是美不勝收.

        Nelson Area Tramping Tour--Saw Cut Gorge The 5 meters wide cliff of the gravelly creek cut through 150 meters high bluffs has created a unique landscape. Sunlight filters down into the gorge during midday, bouncing golden-yellow light off. The 5 hours track weaves among large boulders and several river gorges.         南島行第四天:Sawcut Gorge 這是一線天峽谷,石膏白的石灰岩峭壁高150 m, 峽谷最宰的部分5m.進入峽谷唯一的步道是溪谷,所以登山者必須涉水進入,所以這是一條比較有挑戰性又刺激的步道.我們走到木屋來回共5小時.

        Separation Point to Totaranui is one of the highlights of the 51km Abel Tasman Coastal Track known to have fine coastal forest and pristine honey-colored beaches. Water taxi access to various points makes it possible for trampers from either Motueka or Takaka to enjoy several excellent days walks.          Abel Tasman 這一條步道是紐西蘭八大走之一,以前我們花四天揹著大背包走完全程.但是   這個南島北邊的海岸步道實在太美了, 所以我們第四度拜訪這裡走其中最美的一段--Separation Point 到Totaranui.海岸樹林非常濃密,金黃沙灘和蔚藍海水,白色石灰岩峭壁,使這一條步道成為國際知名的步道,每年夏天吸引成千上萬國際遊客到此.今年因Nelson 地區洪水沖毀Takaka 到步道終點的道路,所以許多遊客被阻擋在Takaka,我們幫忙載一對德國年輕人到Tata Beach,他們要花一天走到登山口,可見這一步道有多吸引人.  Abel Tasman 因道路被洪水沖毀,所 以我們搭船至Mutt on Cove  開始Walk   Seperation Point Anapai Bay

        Nelson area tramping tour day 8 Wharariki Beach offers walkers one of the most dramatic and wild coasts in Golden Bay; an area which abounds in attractive and often undeveloped coastlines. The beach is large enough to find solitude, and certainly worthy of a few hours exploration. Wharariki includes large sand dunes, fur seals, and narrow caves in the headland, but its most impressive feature is the Archway Island, lying just offshore.         Wharariki Beach 是此次南島行非常喜歡的一個點,個人覺得這裡的美可以比美澳洲的十二使徒.幾年前第一次拜訪這裡,為之驚艷, 可惜那時相機被偷了,沒有留下紀錄,因此我們決定再度拜訪這個地方,連帶把燈塔到beach 的Hill Top Track 走一走.這兒的白色沙丘,海邊曲折的山洞, 一望無際平坦的海灘,矗立海中的拱門島,撿不完的mussel,足夠讓你在此花上兩三小時倘徉其中.但記得要在最低潮前後才能走到beach.

Nelson area tramping tour day 9         1795m Mt. Arthur Summit near Takaka New Zealand offers walkers a rare glimpse of marble patterned by past glaciation. It is honeycombed with sinkholes and caves. Alpine flowers abound in summer. It takes 5~7 hours return to the summit and offers outstanding views. It was a special experience for us to visit it in very strong gusting winds.          Arthur 山高1795m 整座山是大理石, 原以為不是很困難的步道,因遇到強風半途躲在大石頭後面避風.這天我們爬得很辛苦,到山頂來回花了六小時.沿途許多巨大的山毛櫸,盛開的高山野花,山頂可以欣賞到360度的高山景色,辛苦是值得的 On the way to Mt. Arthur Hut ,There are many giant beech tree. Trampers built a special trig combined with shelter on the summit of Mt. Arthur Mt. Arthur Hut 半途風太強無法繼續前 進,我們躲在大石頭後 避風 Mt. Arthur 是一座大理石山 高山野花正盛開
