Mangahao River Track 位於Tararua Ranges ,由於在Tararua forest Park 的深處所以我們翻山越嶺在蜿蜒的泥土路開了好久的車才到No 1水庫,步道從水庫邊開始.因為是乾季,所以一開始可以走在水庫底走,往河的上游走了約一小時再上去步道. 步道沿河經過許多深綠色水潭和峽谷,所以登山者可以隨時到水潭裡玩水,在夏天特別吸引人,如果走到Mangahao Flats Hut 住一晚再出來是夏天很好的週末登山步道.我們並沒有走到Mangahao Flats Hut ,只來回走了六小時,不過花了一些時間在河裡玩水,欣賞碧潭和峽谷,這是Tararua Forest Park 非常美的一條步道,雖然不容易到達,但是很值得走一趟.
The Mangahao River is located in the North Island of New Zealand. The headwaters are in the Tararua RangesThere are two dams on the river which tunnel water, The track starts straight away from the edge of the No 1 Dam car park and enters the bush on the true left side of the Mangahao River.
